    'Fabian Theis studied Mathematics and Physics, earning PhDs in both Physics a
     nd Computer Science. After several international research stays, he became a
      Bernstein Fellow and led a junior research group at the Bernstein Center fo
     r Computational Neuroscience at the Max Planck Institute in Göttingen. In 20
     07, he joined Helmholtz Munich as a junior group leader and became an associ
     ate professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). He currently serv
     es as the Director of the Computational Health Center at Helmholtz Munich an
     d as Scientific Director of HelmholtzAI. At TUM, he is Full Professor holdin
     g the chair of 'Mathematical Modelling of Biological Systems' and is also an
      Associate Faculty member at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in the UK. 
     His scientific achievements have been recognized with numerous honors, inclu
     ding an ERC Advanced Grant for his “DeepCell” project, election to the Europ
     ean Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) in 2022, appointment to the Human 
     Cell Atlas Board, and the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize awarded by the DFG
