'Dr. Mareike Albert is a board-certified ENT surgeon and innovator working at
the intersection of clinical medicine, neuroscience, and diagnostics. She e
arned her medical degree from LMU Munich in 2012 as part of the Munich-Harva
rd Alliance and completed her specialization in Head & Neck Surgery in 2
     017. At LMU, she led the unit for smell and taste disorders, contributed to
national research programs and clinical trials, and served as IT lead for a
team of approximately 100 employees - driving digital improvements despite o
utdated and fragmented systems. Her research focuses on the Brain–Nose Inter
face, a historically described but clinically underestimated anatomical gate
way connecting the forebrain to the nasal cavity, ultimately enabling egress
of cerebrospinal fluid. In 2020, drawing on her combined expertise in surge
ry and neuroscience, she co-founded Noselab, a healthtech company committed
to turning these scientific and anatomical insights into diagnostic innovati
on. Together with her team, she pioneered the idea of using the brain–nose i
nterface as a non-invasive access to well known CSF biomarkers - opening a w
indow into the brain. She invented a medical device that enables easy and st
andardized sample collection from this region, laying the foundation for rep
eatable molecular analysis and the creation of clinically applicable biomark
ers for brain pathologies - effectively bridging centuries-old anatomical kn
owledge with modern neuroscience. For the first years, she served as Co-CEO
alongside her experienced co-founder, jointly building the company’s foundat
ion and strategic direction. Since returning from parental leave five months
ago, she has taken on the role of Chief Scientific Officer, where she leads
the company’s scientific direction. She is passionate about accelerating th
e translation of science into clinical and commercial impact as well as empo
wering scientists to drive meaningful innovation in healthcare. In her free
     time, she enjoys spendin...
